A Word From The Editor
BEHIND A GOOD FIRM, GREAT PEOPLE
A recent visit to JP Distribution has filled me with confidence. Confidence and a fervent hope that this industry of ours is picking up.
Although digital has impacted upon the entire spectrum of retail photography, both in terms of capture and output, businesses are adapting to the new climate, and in the company of JP’s Managing Director Steve Kirkham I saw for myself how, for them, servicing continues to be just as important as it has ever been.
With a skilled team of technicians all working away on Konica Minolta cameras and many others besides (JP has the contract to look after KM servicing) I was reminded of that age old maxim that a company is only as good as the people who work for it. And walking through JP’s servicing centre I could see a wide age range of technicians all beavering away with a dedication you would only expect to see from the manufacturers’ own workforce in the Far East. Except this was in Staffordshire.
Wherever you happen to be, I hope that the economic climate is starting to improve for you. I am in daily contact with retailers and manufacturers and the general impression I get is that it’s getting better for those who have been prepared to embrace the change. And it’s not just change for change’s sake either: although the climate has changed forever and the buying landscape has all but been remapped, one constant factor remains: this industry needs good people.
